The Lab offers a limited number of internships for creative, hardworking and serious undergraduates and graduates interested in performing a variety of tasks related to the general operation of the institution. Internships are offered each semester and school credit is available. If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please submit a completed application packet, including a resume and cover letter to intern@belmarlab.org. VIDEO INTERNSHIP

WHAT IS IT?
This is a part-time unpaid internship. The video intern will work with The Lab’s creative staff to document Lab programs and events and post them on The Lab at Belmar’s web site. Video interns will help produce creative short videos that capture the spirit and feel of Lab programs for on-line audiences.

AM I ELIGIBLE?
The qualified candidate will have skills in video production and editing. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver, and Adobe Contribute is preferred, but not required. Interns must be self-starters

WHAT ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAM?
You get to be a part of a dynamic new contemporary art center. You can help establish the look and feel of The Lab’s on-line video gallery. You can receive college credit.

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM START?
Start dates can be between mid-May and mid-June, depending on your schedule.

WHAT DO YOU NEED FROM ME?
A cover letter and resume (including your program area and expected date of graduation)
A portfolio of your work (including multi-media samples submitted on CD or via the web)
A completed intern information form
Two references.

PROGRAMS AND MUSEOLOGY INTERN

WHAT IS IT?
The Programs and Museology Intern assists with the logistics, preparation, set-up, implementation, and evaluation of programs and events.  Interns gain experience with all aspects of the institution.  Interns will gain an in-depth understanding of educational programming for a small contemporary arts organization.

AM I ELIGLIBLE?
The qualified candidate will:

  • Possess a strong interest in museums or contemporary art
  • Have attention to detail
  • Have ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Be extremely reliable
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Be able to dedicate 12 hours weekly to an internship, especially Wednesday and Thursday evenings. 

WHAT ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAM?
You gain experience working with every aspect of a small museum, including working with art and artists, development, membership, programming and events. You have access to the entire staff and get to be part of a dynamic new model for a museum. You get college credit.
